2023 Latin American Space Challenge

2023 LASC Overview

The Fifth Annual LASC was held from August 24th to 27th, 2023, with the event held in the FATEC Tatuí and in the Cape Canavial launch area. The 2023 LASC reached again records with the participation of more than 2,000 students and enthusiasts on-site and off-site. The number of rockets that had at least one launch attempt also made history: 36 rockets went through the complete chronology until the activation of the ignition system.

The event accepted 150 projects: 107 rockets and 43 satellites from 13 countries, which were evaluated, tested and launched at the Cape Canavial.

All rockets were evaluated during the timeline of deliveries, including progress updates, review videos and technical reports. During the on-site event, the accepted rockets were evaluated on a Flight Readiness Review (FRR) and a Launch Readiness Review (LRR).

The Satellite Challenge was carried on-site in a beta phase for the second year in a row. All satellites were evaluated based on all deliverables and on a pitch presentation during the on-site event. This was the first time with satellites being demonstrated on-site during the event: a huge milestone for the Latin American Space Challenge.
